There are basically two options in hiring a lawyer.  There is the traditional strategy of hiring a local attorney who specializes in divorce and child support collection.  A lawyer dedicated to this field usually works better than a general lawyer who handles multiple types of cases. The second option is where you pay a monthly fee for legal services.  Although this option is inexpensive, you usually get what you pay for. It is important to note that lawyers are experts at getting you through the legal process of getting child support.  They usually are not experts at collecting child support.  If you have a judgement but are not getting payments we suggest using a child support collection agency.
